Florida requires noise abatement on airboats. Mufflers and suppression systems are not decoration and removing them is not a grey area. Enforcement in this region is real.

The practical side

Access is decided by county commissions and legislators who hear from residents. The habits that keep water open are simple and cost nothing:

• Idle past houses, docks and anchored boats.
• Do not run residential stretches at dawn or after dark without reason.
• Keep the suppression system maintained and in place.
• Do not sit and rev at the ramp.
• Assume every run past a house is a vote about your access.

Paddlers, anglers and wildlife watchers share this water and are far more vulnerable than you are. Slow early, pass wide, and come off plane before your wake reaches them, not after.
